Stephen Deason

Stephen Deason is an applied economist, entrepreneur, operating executive, and author. He has spent thirty-one years building companies across healthcare, technology, and social enterprise. He is Founder and CEO of OPA Home Care and Skilled Nursing, a home care and skilled nursing company in Roswell, Georgia, and of The OPA RASA Group. He also founded the OPA RASA Foundation, a separate nonprofit that helps people from disadvantaged backgrounds pursue careers.

He previously led GRYYT, a marketing technology firm, and has held C-level roles at three other technology companies. He serves on four nonprofit boards and on the advisory boards of two startup technology and telecommunications firms.

He holds an MBA and an MSc in Accounting from Emory University and a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. He completed doctoral coursework in Emory's Business PhD program. He pursued graduate studies and completed the CityLabs program at Johns Hopkins University as a Dean's Scholar. His research on accounting and fraud appeared in Accounting Horizons and was covered by Forbes. His writing has appeared in CPA Practice Advisor.

His books include The Weakest Link and The Invisible Architecture, the first two books of The Operational Reliability Series; The Family Integrator's Handbook; the recovery titles of the Mile Marker Library, several written with Melissa Deason; and The Sitting Room Series, large-print guides, workbooks, and journals for older adults and the families around them. His books also include Residual Claimants and The Realities of Ownership in The Paid Last Series.
